Article summary

What is a quiz?

A quiz is a resource that can be integrated into a module, training, evaluation, or as part of a step in an evaluation process.

A quiz comprises questions and sections. Each section comprises a series of questions.

All quizzes are stored in the resource library.

The same question base is shared by placement tests and validation tests. When a user self-evaluates for a skill, there is a risk that they will be asked a question again.

Here's how the platform calculates questions to ask to reduce the risk of asking the same question again:

  • When asking a question about a skill level, priority is given to questions that have never been asked.

  • If all the questions have already been asked, priority is given based on the number of times the questions have been asked.

  • In the event of a tie, priority is given to the questions for which the most wrong answers were returned.

Manage quiz settings

Open the Studio > Resource Library

Procedure

  1. Select the Quiz type in the search criteria, then click the Search button.

  2. Select the desired quiz from the list, then click on the View the resource button.

    • The Quiz tab appears on the screen with the quiz tree on the left and its card with its information on the right.

  3. Click on the Settings tab .

    • Different blocks appear on the screen to manage the quiz settings.

  4. Set a welcome message for the start of the quiz and an end message when the quiz is complete. Click the pencil icon to the right of the text box to enter this text with an HTML editor.

General Settings

  • Sequencing: Displays one page per question (skip to the next question with the next arrow) or one page per section.

  • Shuffle Content: Allows sections and questions to be shuffled each time the quiz is launched by the learner. If the quiz includes sections (parts) to mix the elements located inside a section, position yourself on the section and then click on the Settings tab and check Shuffle content.

  • Display the title of the questions: enable you to show the question title when it’s played in the player.

  • Display progress. Checkbox

  • Number of elements to sort randomly: Allows sections or questions to be drawn randomly. If the quiz includes sections (parts) to randomly draw the elements located inside a section, you must position yourself on the section and then click on the tab.

  • Title of the questions. Select either Question name or Automatic numbering.

Response parameters

  • Allow you to change your answer: by checking this box, at the end of the quiz a Complete quiz button will be displayed. As long as the user hasn't pressed this button, they can still edit their answers using the Previous and Next buttons. Replies will only be saved on the platform after clicking the Finish button (and then Yes in the confirmation window).

Show feedback

  • Allows you to display the feedback provided in the questions or proposals as the quiz progresses. Feedback is also displayed in the correction sheet. It is possible to display feedback either in a new window (modal window) or below the question (in the same window as the question). If you want to display feedback, the question flow (see general quiz settings) is probably more suitable.

  • An answer is required for each question: when this option is enabled, the user must answer each of the questions or a message will ask them to do so. This option is recommended when the quiz is used in an assessment because the assessment disappears from a learner's registration list as soon as it is completed.

  • Allow student comment: For each question, a comment box appears. The user can enter a visible comment in the learner-by-learner tracking. Use an open-ended question if you want to access all the answers on a single document.

  • Time the quiz: if checked, then a field allows you to indicate the time available to complete the quiz. It is also possible to time a question. We recommend using either of these options.

  • A correction is necessary: the quiz will be sent for correction to the instructor indicated on the training session and/or on the Quiz resource via the session schedule.

Manage the answer settings of a quiz

Open the Studio > Resource Library

Procedure

  1. Select the Quiz type in the search criteria, then click the Search button.

  • Set a quiz score (Raw score or Percentage score). If this option is unchecked, no score is calculated and you will not be able to view a score in Tracking or Analytics.

  • Define a passing score for this quiz, regardless of the module or course in which you will find this quiz. If the success score is checked, then a new field appears in the form. This is the success score (in points), from which the quiz will switch to the success status for all courses. If you have different success scores for the same quiz, you will have to duplicate your quiz.

Display

  • When the Personalize the summaries option is of, the selected choices are applied for all profiles.

  • Personalize the summaries: if enabled, then it is possible to customise the display.

    • My Registrations

    • My Team

    • My Sessions

    • Aftercare

By default, everything is hidden, for all profiles. To make an item visible to a profile, click on the crossed out eye, it will become active.

  • Axe results: display a bar that will indicate the threshold reached per axis.

  • Score: display the quiz score (depending on the conditions of access to the correction).

Correction

Show the answer form: allow the learner to download the answer key for the quiz. It is possible to decide under what conditions they will be able to download it:

  • Always: the learner will be able to replay the quiz even after the correction has been downloaded.

  • Lock quiz: once the learner has downloaded the correction sheet, they will not be able to replay the quiz.

  • At end: the sheet will only be available at the end of the tests (please note that the number of attempts is to be defined at the level of the training module at the design level).
