Article summary

What is a resource player?

A Player allows the learner to easily navigate through the resource. The interface has the following elements:

  • The plan - open by default.

  • Label of the training.

  • Learner progression and success.

  • Possible action bars:

    • Previous & Next: for navigating between the content of the training.

    • Close: Closing the Player by the user.

    • Refresh from plan: Force the plan to be updated based on progress.

Additional Information

If the platform detects that the Player has been closed without using the Close button, the platform will display different types of warning messages depending on the context:

  • A message in the Session page.

  • A message in the Player when it reopens.

  • A message is also activated directly in the browser when the tab is closed.

Change the training view

Open the Administration > Training course > Courses > Course Design tab > Module Settings tab

Or: Studio > Module Library > A module > Settings tab

Procedure

  1. From the Administration menu, select from the Training submenu.

  2. Select the desired search criteria on the search page, then click the Search button.

  3. Select the desired training from the list, then click the Design tab.

  4. Next, select the Parameters tab.

  5. Select the desired parameters as listed below.

Player settings

Full-screen opening: the consideration of this option may vary depending on the browser and the medium used by the learner.

Navigation bar parameters

It is possible to customise the display of the Player:

Either:

Check the box View the full action bar (navigation, plan button and progress/success status)

Or:

Check the radio button Customize action bar.

  • View the plan : If the box is unchecked, the learner will not see the plan on the left and will not be able to navigate between resources through it. (Navigation possible via the Player's Previous / Next buttons or the page outline).
The View Progress & Achievement Status option will be automatically disabled as well.

  • View Progress and success status: If the checkbox is unchecked, the learner will not see the module's overall progress bar or the achievement status in the Player (top left). They will find the information in their follow-up.

  • View navigation buttons: If the check box is cleared, the Previous and Next buttons are not displayed. Navigation becomes possible via the Player map or the session page map.

Understand the idle timeout

The Player has been set to detect inactivity after several minutes (default 60 minutes). Inactivity means that the tab is no longer considered visible.

For example, if the user goes to another tab, another application, minimises the browser in the taskbar, or the computer enters sleep mode, ... The tab becomes inactive.

If a video is played on the tab and it is still visible/active on the screen, even if the user does nothing, this will not be considered inactivity and the Player will therefore remain open.

When the Player closes, it records the learner's follow-up and automatically redirects them to their session page, from where they can pick up where they left off.
